Dombyra is a Kazakh stringed musical instrument played by plucking. It has wooden frame (its length is 1000-1300 millimeters) and two strings. This instrument is tuned in fourth or fifth. Consummate compositions, (kuy) are played in this instrument. There were great compositors as: Kurmangazy Sagyrbayev (1806-1879), Dina Nurpeyissova (1861-1955), Tattimbet, Mahambet Utemisov, Dauletkerey, Kazangap, Turkesh, and others. |

There are over 3000 products of national, classical, modern music in repertoir of the orchestra at present time. Structure of the orchestra allows to execute musical compositions of any complexity. Composers of Kazakhstan such as A.Zhubanov (composed the Tadjik dance 5), E.Brusilovsky (symphony poem "Zheldirme"), S.Muhamedzhanov, Zhumaniyazov (a fragment from "Serper" symphony poem), A.Murzabekov, A.Zhayimov (processing of Kurmangazy's "Saranzhap" kyui) and many others composed for the orchestra. There are musical compositions of the West-European composers such as Beethoven, Mozart, Verdi, Bizet (the overture to "Carmen" opera), Gounod ("Romeo and Julliett "opera, Julliett's aria), Rossini, Brams, Shopen and other Russian composers - Glinki, Chaykovsky, Rakhmaninov, Sviridov, Hachaturyan and others in repertoir.
Known singers act with the orchestra - R.Baglanova, E.Serkebaev, B.Tulegenova, A.Dnishev, G.Esimov, Sh.Abilov, N.Usenbaeva, Zh.Baspakova, K.Zholdibaev, M.Muhamedkizy, R.Rymbaeva and many others.
Now the orchestra goes on near and far abroad tours frequently.
