Dombyra is a Kazakh stringed musical instrument played by plucking. It has wooden frame (its length is 1000-1300 millimeters) and two strings. This instrument is tuned in fourth or fifth. Consummate compositions, (kuy) are played in this instrument. There were great compositors as: Kurmangazy Sagyrbayev (1806-1879), Dina Nurpeyissova (1861-1955), Tattimbet, Mahambet Utemisov, Dauletkerey, Kazangap, Turkesh, and others.
